Painting that lasts past the first winter
Pittsfield, MA and all of Berkshire County
In short
We paint houses inside and out in Pittsfield and across Berkshire County. The work that makes paint last is the prep: scraping, sanding, priming bare wood and sealing the gaps before a single finish coat goes on. Quotes are free and in writing, and we work in English or Spanish.
Signs you need this
- Paint is peeling, blistering or coming off in sheets
- Bare wood is showing through on the south or west walls
- The color has chalked out and rubs off on your hand
- You are about to sell and the exterior is what people see first
What the job includes
- Scraping and sanding back to a sound surface
- Bare wood spot-primed before anything else goes on
- Gaps and joints caulked so water stops getting behind the paint
- Windows, trim and landscaping covered and protected
- Two finish coats unless the surface calls for more
- Daily cleanup and a final walkthrough with you

Common questions
Why does prep matter more than the paint itself?
Because paint fails from underneath. A good coat over a bad surface peels in a season. Most of the hours on an exterior job go into scraping, sanding and priming, and that is what makes it last.
Do you paint interiors too?
Yes. Rooms, ceilings, trim, doors and stairways. Interior work also runs through the winter, when exterior painting cannot.
What is the best time of year to paint an exterior in the Berkshires?
Late spring through early fall. The surface has to be dry and temperatures need to hold overnight, which rules out most of the winter here.
Do you help pick colors?
We will talk it through with you and get sample boards up on the actual wall. Colors read completely differently on a north wall than they do on a chip in the store.
My house is old. Is there anything special about that?
Older homes often have layers of old paint that need careful handling, and homes built before 1978 have their own rules about how that paint is disturbed. We will walk that with you before we start.
Do you move furniture for interior work?
We move and cover what is in the room. Anything fragile or valuable we would rather you take out yourself.
