The best time to paint a house exterior in the Berkshires
Late May through early October is the window for exterior painting in Berkshire County. Paint needs the surface dry and the overnight temperature to stay above roughly 50°F while it cures, and outside that window neither holds reliably here. September is often the best month of all: low humidity, mild days, and cool nights that have not yet turned cold.

When siding needs replacing, and when a repair is enough
Repair the siding when the damage is limited to panels and the wood behind them is sound. Replace it when rot has spread through the sheathing, when more than about a third of a wall is affected, or when the profile is no longer made and patches would never match. The only way to know is to open one damaged section and look behind it.
